What we collect
Your first name, last name (only if you give it), email address, mobile number (only if you give it), country, your children's stage(s) of education, and anything you choose to tell us about your biggest challenge. We also record when and how you signed up, confirmed and opted in to email or WhatsApp updates (to show your consent).
Why
To send you the free Starter Pack and occasional updates about HomerootEd by email and, only if you ticked the WhatsApp box, on WhatsApp, and to understand what families need so we can build the right product.
Lawful basis
For emails and WhatsApp messages, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email, by replying STOP to any WhatsApp message, or by emailing us. Email and WhatsApp consent are separate, so you can stop one and keep the other. For the advertising list described below, our legitimate interest in letting similar families know about HomerootEd; you can object at any time.
Who processes it for us
Our hosting and database provider (Supabase, data stored in the UK), our email provider (Resend), Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) and our WhatsApp messaging provider, for WhatsApp messages only, and, if you accept cookies, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity (which records anonymised clicks and scrolling, with everything you type hidden, to help us improve the page), Meta and TikTok. They act on our instructions under data processing agreements.
Sharing
We never sell your data and never share it with local authorities or other organisations for their own purposes. The only exception is the scrambled advertising list described below, which Meta uses on our behalf.
Emails
We record which links you click in our emails (not whether you open them) so we can see which resources are most useful. This uses a link that passes briefly through our email provider, Resend.
Advertising
If you join, we may share a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address, phone number and name with Meta so we can show HomerootEd ads to similar families, or avoid showing ads to you. Meta can't read the scrambled details and deletes any it can't match. You can object at any time by emailing hello@homerooted.co.uk, and we'll stop including you.
How long we keep it
While you're on the waitlist. If you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address (or mobile number, for WhatsApp) on a suppression list so we don't contact you again.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@homerooted.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
